VICTORIA – A company that runs casinos and bingo halls across BC is looking to hit the slot machine jackpot in Victoria.
Documents obtained under a freedom of information request by Public Eye Online show Playtime Community Gaming Centres has been talking to Victoria City officials about opening up a gaming centre and offering it hundreds of thousands in slot machine revenue.

The company runs a Bingo Centre on Tillicum road and is hoping to move the centre to Victoria hoping the draw hundreds of thousands of dollars will convince Victoria council to allow slot machine inside its city limits.

In a proposal to the City of Victoria, Playtime Gaming says the BC Lottery Corporation says there is an unserviced market demand” for such a centre in Victoria and the company has “exclusive right to locate” one there.

BC Lottery Corporation tells /A\ News that while it believes there is a demand for a community gaming centre in the Capital Regional District, but any agreement should not be interpreted as exclusive to the City of Victoria

The crown corporation says any development would have to receive government approval.
